Welcome to another Required Reading! Like the last one of these posts, I’ll be sharing some of the literature that has made an impact on my life. This post’s theme is resilience – resilience in the sense that life’s greatest trial is making it through it all without losing your mind or losing yourself. Each one of these pieces really holds a prominent place in my heart, so I hope you take an interest in one and have a read of it yourself!
It’s been a while since the last one of these posts, just because I’ve been incredibly busy and haven’t been spending much time doing my usual habit of engorging myself with all sorts of fashion-related things on the internet. But now I’ve had a moment to catch my breath and so Seven Things is back this week with Fenty, Gigi, and a Pumpkin Spice purse.
So New Zealand Fashion Week just happened! It went from August 28 to September 3. It’s pretty cool that it’s the week before fashion month, i.e. the New York, London, Milan, and Paris Fashion Weeks. The collections showcasing at NZ Fashion Week are actually for AW18 though since our seasons are opposite on this side of the world! I just wanted to quickly mention my fave collections from the week after being able to get up close and personal with most of them.
It’s been a week of good clothes, runway shows, time pressure, and Red Bulls! Let me tell you all about my experience in helping make this year’s New Zealand Fashion Week happen.
The start of a new month means looking back at all the purchases made from the last. I’m quite proud of my August spending habits as I only bought three things! Although, they were three designer branded things…but! This is good because I’m slowly really adapting the whole “quality over quantity” mindset when it comes to my closet.
Yea I’m that extra bitch who wears this kind of thing to lectures. (Vintage jacket, Cotton On straight leg jeans, New Look mary janes, Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses, Marc Jacobs Le Marc lipstick in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang)
Ask me what my favourite book is and – as if I were talking about a lover – I’ll say I just haven’t found it yet. Nonetheless, I’ve read a lot of stuff in my lifetime that have made a lasting impact on my thoughts and just generally who I am as a person. So with that, I thought I’d introduce a new list series called Required Reading – compilations of some of the best poems, essays, short stories and novels that I deeply appreciate and/or identify with. I thought I’d compile them by “vibe” lol, so this post’s theme is affection.
